Insurance etc...
Yes!
You will need short term rental insurance for any listing offering stays in Ontario for 28 days or less or any rental that is not considered long term. This is indeed different than regular residential insurance that you currently may have with your provider. Every insurance provider is different, please check with your insurance company to see if they offer short term rental insurance on top of your current residential or commercial insurance. Many larger companies do not, and should you operate short term rentals without notification to your current insurance company your residential insurance policy may then be deemed void.
But there is an easy solution! We work with and refer to Square One Insurance out of Toronto and Vancouver - a fabulous and easy to work with company that offers easy online quotes for a wide range of insurances from short term rental policies, tenant, condo owners and full residential insurance policies just to name a few. With excellent customer service feel free to contact Square One Insurance directly here to support your insurance needs.
Airbnb also offers their Airbnb AirCover Insurance to support new hosts with any damages that may occur in addition to your short term rental insurance required for your listing.
*We may receive a small commission for successful Square One referrals!
